Air Evac is the largest independently owned and operated HEMS, or air ambulance provider. It currently operates helicopters at 131 bases throughout the country.

With a select group of high school students watching from the bleachers, the helicopter landed on the 50-yard line of the football field.

Staff and students then went on the field to hear a presentation from the Air Evac team and ask questions about the industry. Students also got a close-up look of the helicopter.

Samantha Loepker, WHS Special Education teacher and Student Council co-advisor, organized the event.

“I’m thankful for instructors like Mrs. Loepker, who think creatively about how to engage students in learning and get them excited about their future,” said WHS Principal Dr. Kelle McCallum. “Securing the guests speakers from Air Evac is exciting for our students and a unique opportunity. We appreciate their willingness to help our students learn and grow.”
