Voters in the School District of Washington boundaries convincingly passed Proposition S during the general election on Tuesday, April 2.
Proposition S, presented by the School District of Washington, was a zero tax-rate increase bond issue designed to improve safety and the school environment for students. Prop S will provide approximately $26 million to construct a new elementary school in the South Point attendance area, as well as safety vestibule construction and other related improvements district-wide.
Overall in Franklin, Warren and St. Charles Counties, there were 5,999 votes casted. There were 4,937 yes votes (82.29%) and 1,062 no votes (17.7%).

Yes - 4,937 - 82.29%
No - 1,062 - 17.7%
Franklin County results:
Yes - 4,002 – 82.67%
No – 839 – 17.33%
Warren County:
Yes – 713 – 79.22%
No – 187 -20.78%
St. Charles County:
Yes – 222 – 86.05%
No – 36 – 13.95%
“A big thank you to everyone who voted. We’re truly thankful and appreciate the support. Thanks also to the volunteers who helped promote Prop S,” said School District of Washington Superintendent Dr. Lori VanLeer. “We look forward to moving ahead with a new South Point Elementary and safety upgrades district wide.”
Additionally, Jason Oesterly and Matt Wilson were elected to the Board of Education. There were two open seats, so they ran unopposed. Oesterly and Wilson will be sworn into office at the Board of Education’s reorganization meeting April 16 at the district office at 7:30 a.m.
