Posted on 05/19/2020
Elementary Construction UpdateWork is under way for construction of a new elementary building in the School District of Washington, which will replace South Point Elementary.

K&S Associates Inc. of St. Louis is doing the construction work on a 75-acre parcel at Highway 100 and St. John's Road.

Over the last two months, Kolb Grading has been on site doing grading and blasting work, along with completing work on the building pad.

K&S is in the process of moving in for the remainder of the construction process.

The new school will be funded through Prop S, a $26 million no-tax increase bond issue approved by voters in April 2019.

The two-story, approximately 78,000-square-foot school, will serve kindergarten through sixth grade. It is designed to serve up to 550 students, but could be expanded in the future.

The new school is slated to open in August 2021.
