Relay for Life Visits South PointWashington High School student council members visited South Point Elementary on Thursday, February 1, to promote the Jordan Scheer Memorial Children’s Relay for Life, scheduled for Friday, April 26, at Scanlan Stadium on the WHS campus.

The event is put together by the WHS student council and leadership class. Proceeds are donated to the Franklin County Relay for Life and benefit the American Cancer Society and cancer awareness.

Four of the event’s Student Chairs, Ava Kauffeld, Brynne Pearcy, Josie Kluesner and Cooper Guss were on hand at South Point to hand out flyers and speak to the students about the Children’s Relay for Life.

The relay is named in honor of Jordan Scheer, a WHS graduate who lost his battle to cancer shortly after his graduation in 2005.

Third through sixth grade children from area schools will participate in the event. They must have already registered to attend.

Students are encouraged to fundraise for the event and participate in the poster/essay contest. Details are on the website and on the flyer that was sent home.
