Washington High School Academic Challenge Team Places First in District Competition

WHS Academic Challenge TeamWashington High School’s Academic Challenge team participated in the Academic Challenge in Engineering and Science district competition on Wednesday, February 7, at East Central College.

Washington’s varsity team took first place in the event and will move on to regional competition in March.

Individual medalists from the district competition are as follows:


Biology:

First place - Zach Gargrave
Second place - Carter Hall

Chemistry:
First place - Vincent Hoang
Second place - Joel Eckelkamp and McLaine Graham
Third place - Grace Gargrave and Shamus Rylee

Computer Science:
First place - Isaac Lough
Second place - Ben Oesterly

Engineering Graphics:

First place - Nikolas Hellebusch
Second place - Brandon Dowil
Third place - Sam Strubberg

English
Second place – Nathan Oreskovic
Third place - Cooper Guss

Mathematics
First place - Ben Oesterly
Second place - McLaine Graham & Andrew Busch
Third place - Zach Gargrave & Vincent Hoang

Physics:
Second place - Phineas Schneider
Third place - Ian Vinyard, Carter Hall
