Washington Falls at Seckman in Varsity Football Opener

WHS Football vs. SeckmanWashington High School opened its varsity football season at Seckman on Friday, Aug. 24, dropping a 27-13 decision to the Jaguars.

The Blue Jays trailed 21-7 at halftime with their score coming on a 25-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Logan Roewe to Bryce Kazmaier with 5:21 remaining in the second quarter, making the score 13-7.

Trailing 27-7, Washington struck again on a five-yard touchdown run by Cole Nahlik with 11:26 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Blue Jays’ defense played a solid game, allowing Seckman’s offense into the end zone only twice. The Jaguars scored two defensive touchdowns.

Offensively, Cory Hardesty and Johnny Duncan led Washington's rushing attack that was able to move the ball for most of the game.

Washington (0-1) plays its home opener Friday, Aug. 31, against Pacific (0-1) at 7 p.m.
