WHS vs. Union SoccerPlaying in the championship game of the Class 3 District 9 Girls Soccer Tournament Wednesday, May 15, at Pacific High School, second-seeded Washington dropped a hard-fought 2-0 decision to top-seeded Union.

After a scoreless first half where both teams had scoring opportunities, Union broke through in the second half on goals with 28 minutes and 18 minutes remaining on the clock.

Washington had opportunities to score, but couldn’t break through.

“We just let them capitalize on a chance for their first goal and failed to capitalize ourselves on our chances,” said Washington Head Coach Adam Fischer. “We were able to play well most of the game. We just couldn’t get over the hump.”

Washington’s soccer season ended with a 17-9 record.

“I am thankful for the chance to coach our eight seniors and look forward to next year,” Fischer said.
