NJROTC Awards CeremonyThe cadets of the Washington NJROTC were recognized for their accomplishments during the 2021-22 school year by members of the School District of Washington’s Board of Education and administration, civic and military groups and the NJROTC Booster Club during the Blue and Gold Ceremony on Tuesday May 3, at the CJB Theatre at Washington High School.

Under the direction of Master Sergeant Tim Gates, cadets received medals and awards while celebrating their accomplishments during the school year.

Overall, 33 individual awards were presented to the cadets.

Additionally, for the second consecutive year, the cadets were presented with the Distinguished Unit with Academic Honors, the highest unit award, by the NJROTC Program Office and the Area Nine Manager.

Area Nine is comprised of 50 NJROTC units from Tennessee, Kansas, Oklahoma, Western Texas, New Mexico and Missouri. This is the second Distinguished Unit award for the program, which is completing its eighth year of existence.

Only 30 percent of the areas units can earn the Distinguished Unit award with two-thirds of those being designated as an Academic Honor Unit. The following 20 percent of units can earn Unit Achievement awards and the bottom 50 percent receive no special awards. The Washington NJROTC unit has previously earned Unit Achievement awards in the 16-17, 18-19 and 19-20 school years.
