WEG Transformers USA in Washington recently donated a transformer to the welding department at Four Rivers Career Center.
WEG specializes in the manufacturing, assembly, supervision, and commissioning services of Power and Distribution Transformers. The purpose of the plant is to quickly manufacture simplistic distribution transformers, typically requested by the utility market.
“It was donated by WEG to Four Rivers Career Center as a way to show what they build there and that it's done here locally,” said FRCC welding instructor Tim Bruckerhoff. “We brought it up in our advisory meeting that it would be great to show the students items that local businesses manufacture to spark interests in the students. We asked for the transformer and they brought it on the same day. It's already been a great teaching tool for the students.”
