Washington secured the title of State Champions in Scholastic AA Round 1. This is the 14th overall MCCGA State Title for the Washington High School Color Guard.

Over 120 guards in six different classifications competed in the event. Washington finished with a score of 78.450, nearly passing the second-place group by .120.

Erin Shaul is the WHS Color Guard Director.

"We couldn't be more proud for these students. This is our 17th MCCGA state title and our first since 2017. When we implemented our color guard staff in 2021, the goal was to get this winter guard program back to where it once was. Not only from the tradition of the program, but to allow our students to have a world class color guard experience here at the Pride of Washington,” said WHS Director of Bands Stewart Alloway. "Myself, along with Erin Shaul, have seen these fine students give countless hours of rehearsal and dedication since November. To see their faces after they announced first place is the reason we do this activity. We look forward to what this team can accomplish as we are promoted up to Scholastic A for 2023-2024."
