Veterans Day Events ScheduledTraditional Veterans Day assemblies hosted by the School District of Washington’s elementary schools, middle school and high school will not take place this year due to the pandemic. Instead, many elementary schools are going virtual and making videos to celebrate the day.

Washington VFW Post 2661 will be hosting a Veterans Day Program, which will be live streamed by Washington High School’s Marketing II class, giving area students the opportunity to watch it while at school. The program will take place Wednesday, November 11, at 9:30 a.m. Click here for the link to the live stream.

There also will be a Heroes Hometown Tour on Wednesday, November 11, which was spearheaded by staff at St. Francis Borgia High School with the help of WHS math instructor Jaime Opfer.

Area veterans are invited to meet at the Washington Post 218 American Legion parking lot on Wednesday, November 11, at 1 p.m. They will then caravan to some local schools for a quick celebration while remaining in their cars. Students are invited to go outside and greet the caravan as it passes by their school.

Washington Middle School and High School students will have the opportunity to greet the caravan when it passes through at approximately 1:30 p.m.
