Washington High School Celebrates FFA Week

Washington High School celebrated National FFA (Future Farmers of America) Week February 20-23.

Chris Dunard, WHS Agriculture Education instructor and FFA adviser, and his students participated in activities at WHS. A canned food drive also was hosted by FFA during the week.

Tuesday, February 20

An agricultural career fair took place in the Little Blue Jay Gym. There were approximately 30 businesses and groups on hand to visit with students. The science department took their students on a 20-minute rotation to the career fair. Click here for photos from career day.

Wednesday, February 21

FFA members were dressed in their official FFA dress to show their pride in the organization. FFA members also participated in Cherry Pie Day. Members delivered a piece of cherry pie to WHS staff and delivered cherry pies to supporters and sponsors.

Thursday, February 22

Tractor Day: Several FFA members drove their tractors to school on Thursday, February 22. Judging took place in the morning. During seventh hour, there was a tractor parade in front of the high school. Photos of the tractor parade are below.

FFA BBQ Lunch: The FFA BBQ lunch took place. Students prepared and served a BBQ pork burger lunch during all three lunch shifts to staff. Members who wore official dress and brought in cherry pies could eat the BBQ as well. Photos of the BBQ lunch are below.

FFA Barnwarming: FFA members participated in an FFA dance in the shop that evening. The official name is Barnwarming. It was held at the high school.

Friday, February 23

Dunard took approximately 40 FFA members to Purina Research Farm in Gray Summit during the morning. These members are the most actively participating members in the FFA Chapter that agreed to follow the strict Bio-Security measure needed to enter the Research Farm.
