WINGS Educational Foundation will put on its annual BBQ lunch delivery and Picnic in the Park on Friday, August 28.

Proceeds support innovative teachers with WINGS educator grants.

Lunch Delivery

Members of WINGS and other volunteers will deliver BBQ lunch directly to your business in Washington, or the orders can be picked up at the Washington Fairgrounds.

Each box lunch is $8, which includes a choice of pulled pork, pork steak or pork burger, along with chips and a cookie.

Picnic in the Park

This year, dinner will be offered as drive-thru pickup at the Washington Fairgrounds from 4-7 p.m.

Advanced orders are not necessary.

Adult dinners for $10 are a choice of pulled chicken sandwich, pulled chicken nachos, pork burger, pork steak, pulled pork nachos or pulled pork sandwich. Sides include bakes beans, potato salad and cookie.

Children dinners for $5 are a choice of pork burger or hot dog. Sides include chips and cookie.

Employee Awards

The WINGS Foundation Award for Educational Excellence is presented annually in partnership with the Missourian Publishing Company and two WHS Alumni to an outstanding educator within the School District of Washington. The recipient receives a plaque and $1,000.

The WINGS Foundation Award for Outstanding Service is presented annually to honor a support staff employee of the School District of Washington. The recipient receives a plaque and $500.


The WINGS Foundation provides $5,000 in financial assistance each year through five annual scholarships.

The Sarah Stoenner Alsop WINGS Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Licensed Practical Nursing student at the Four Rivers Career Center in the amount of $1,000.

Two WINGS Washington Alumni Scholarships and two WINGS Scholarships are awarded to Washington High School seniors in the amount of $1,000 each. 

Staff Recognition

In conjunction with Teacher Appreciation Week held the first week of May, parents and community members now have the opportunity to recognize a School District of Washington staff member who has made an impact. These staff members are recognized by receiving a visit from a WINGS Board member delivering flowers and a card from there admirer.
