South Point Elementary Student Donates Friendship Bench to School

South Point Student Donates BenchCharlie Davis, a fourth-grade student in Sonya Jones’ class at South Point Elementary, showed off her caring nature with a wish she made for the holiday season.

Charlie told her mother, Samantha Davis, that her Christmas wish was to provide a friendship bench for South Point students to sit on during recess. The students can use the bench to sit with friends and also make new friends.

Charlie started a GoFundMe page and raised approximately $100 to pay for the bench, which Samantha found and purchased online.

Charlie’s mother and grand-father, Brian Huxel, put the bench together, which included blue jays on the backrest, and painted it Washington’s blue color.

The bench will go to the playground at South Point Elementary when students return from the winter break. See the photos below.
