Posted on 07/20/2023
WHS Wind Symphony RecognitionThe Washington High School Wind Symphony has been selected as one of only six bands out of over 100 submissions in the state to perform at the 86th Annual Missouri Music Educators Association Conference.

Each year, MMEA holds a conference in January for all of the music educators across the state. At this conference, in addition to professional development sessions, the top ensembles in the state for band, choir, and orchestra are selected to perform for the music educators attending the conference. The concert series at the conference is meant to showcase the top performing ensembles in the state, and inspire other educators for their own ensembles.

“This is the highest honor available at the state level to Missouri music programs and we will be performing in front of every music director across the state of Missouri at the conference,” said WHS Director of Bands Stewart Alloway.

It marks the first time Washington High School has been selected for this honor.

The date of the performance has not been made, but it will be sometime between January 24 and 27.
