WHS Wrestlers Qualify for State

Washington Sends Six Wrestlers to State Meet

Washington High School will be represented by six wrestlers, three boys and three girls, at the MSHSAA Wrestling Championships Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 20-22, at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

Representing the Blue Jays in the Class 3 boys ranks at the state meet will be Collin Muller (fourth place district finish at 182 pounds), Chris Griesenauer (second place district finish at 220 pounds) and Gavin Holtmeyer (fourth place district finish at 285 pounds).

Representing the Lady Jays at the state meet will be Mia Reed (District champion at 110 pounds), Allison Meyer (District champion at 115 pounds) and Halaina O’Bryant (third place district finish at 135 pounds).

Girls first-round matches are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20, starting at 2 p.m., followed by first-round wrestlebacks.

Class 3 boys first-round matches are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 20, starting at 5 p.m., followed by first-round wrestlebacks.

On Friday, Feb. 21, the girls quarterfinals and second-round wrestlebacks are scheduled for 11:45 a.m. The girls semifinals and third-round wrestlebacks will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Also on Friday, Feb. 21, the Class 3 boys quarterfinals and second-round wrestlebacks are scheduled for 1:15 p.m. The boys semifinals and third-round wrestlebacks will begin at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Feb. 22, girls fourth-round wrestlebacks will begins at 8:30 a.m. and the boys fourth-round wrestlebacks start at 9 a.m.

Third-place and fifth-place matches begin at 11 a.m. for the girls and 11:30 a.m. for the boys.

The championship matches for boys and girls are Saturday, Feb. 22, starting at 4:30 p.m.
