New Elementary ConstructionConstruction work on the new elementary school in the School District of Washington is progressing.

The new elementary school, located at Highway 100 and St. John’s Road, will replace South Point Elementary.

Concrete slabs have been poured and the steel structure is currently being put into place.

The two-story, approximately 78,000-square-foot school, will serve kindergarten through sixth grade. It is designed to serve up to 550 students, but could be expanded in the future.

The name of the new school has not been decided, but will be soon. The Board of Education wants to seek ideas from current South Point Elementary students before deciding.

The new school is slated to open in August 2021.
