Logan Williams Board of EducationThe School District of Washington’s Board of Education recognized a District student and staff member during their meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Four Rivers Career Center’s Youth Registered Apprenticeship Program recently recognized its first youth registered apprentice, Logan Williams.

Williams, a student in the Automotive Technology program at FRCC, will work as an automotive technician with KJ Unnerstall Construction.

Kurt Unnerstall, owner of KJ Unnerstall Construction, and Logan’s mentor, Jake Sickendick, joined Logan at the Board of Education meeting for the announcement.

Logan's parents, Tom and Karen Williams, along with Automotive Technology instructors Gary Maune and Dan Brinkmann also stood with Logan. FRCC Director Andy Robinson and Apprenticeship Coordinator, Cynthia Walker, presented the program and announced Logan's achievements.

Logan has already completed the required Department of Labor related instruction and logged over 1,600 hours toward his Department of Labor Competencies. Logan recently was named a National Finalist in the DELO Tractor Restoration Competition. Logan also recently was recognized as the Washington Rotary Club Student of the Month and gave a presentation on his achievements.

Also at the Board of Education meeting, Melissa Ziegler, Biomedical Science, Medical Interventions, and Biomedical Innovations instructor at Four Rivers Career Center, was recognized as the School District of Washington and WINGS Teacher of the Year.

Ziegler is beginning her 19th year with the School District of Washington and 22nd year overall in education. She gave a presentation at the Board meeting on strategies she's currently implementing within her classes and programs.
