Due to the threat of severe weather moving into the area this afternoon and evening, Washington High School’s Class of 2021 Graduation has been postponed for Thursday, May 27. The ceremony will now take place on Friday, May 28, at 7 p.m. at Scanlan Stadium on the WHS campus.
The decision to postpone the ceremony had to be made early in the day because it takes the School District of Washington’s buildings and grounds staff several hours to set everything up, such as the stage, seating, sound and other logistics. Setting everything up Thursday afternoon with the possibility of severe weather moving in was not a viable option.
Each graduating senior received eight tickets to the graduation ceremony. You must have a ticket to enter. Gates will open Friday at 5 p.m. A shuttle bus from Mercy (located across Highway 47 from WHS) to the stadium will be available before and after the ceremony starting at 5:30 p.m.
In case of inclement weather on Friday, the makeup date is Saturday, May 29, at 9 a.m.
