Robyn BusekrusThe School District of Washington is excited to take part in the “STL Teacher Proud” campaign, put on by Education Plus, as an effort to highlight the amazing teachers who choose to serve the St. Louis community and inspire others to join the noble profession of teaching. On the second Tuesday of each month, we’ll highlight a SDOW teacher who chooses to make a difference every day.

Teacher Proud Tuesday – Robyn Busekrus, Counselor, Marthasville Elementary

Robyn Busekrus is in her 22nd year in education, 13 years in Troy R-3 and nine years with the School District of Washington. This is her third year as Counselor at Marthasville Elementary. Prior to that, she worked at Washington West Elementary and South Point Elementary, teaching grades K-2. Busekrus also periodically writes for Share Magazine and has her own blog called Robyn's Nest of Hope. robynsnestofhope.com

"I love being able to support kids in their academics and well-being. It brings joy to walk alongside our kids each day. Positive relationships, encouragement and consistency are key to student relationships,” Busekrus said. “Each day, I have joy in supporting our kids, staff, families and community. Our school is a wonderful place that I am grateful to be a part of."

“Marthasville is incredibly blessed to have Robyn. The hard work she puts in each and every day makes our school a better place,” said Marthasville Elementary Principal Kristen Daffron. “She is the master-mind behind all of our grant awards, organizes engaging lessons and activities during our monthly Character Ed assemblies, supports our teachers in the MTSS and PLC process, creates strong partnerships with community organizations, and creates opportunities for our students to use gardening as an outlet for stress and mindfulness. We are ‘Better Together’ because of Robyn Busekrus.”
