WHS Basketball Player Cierra Murrell (KLPW), Wrestler Maggie Ortmann (Missourian) Named Athletes of the Week
Washington High School girls basketball player Cierra Murrell is the KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week.
Washington High School wrestler Maggie Ortmann is the Washington Missourian Athlete of the Week.
Murrell, a 5-10 senior forward, is averaging 12.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game this season for the Lady Jays. She collected 15 points, six rebounds and two blocks in a recent win over Sullivan and added 14 points, eight rebound and one block against Ft. Zumwalt South.

Ortmann, a junior, is off to a 19-0 start to the wrestling season at 155 pounds after winning the Raytown South Holiday Tournament, winning all of her matches by fall.
Ortmann has claimed three individual tournament titles this season, also winning the Affton and Union Tournaments.
She has won all of her matches this season by fall except one decision over a returning state medalist.
