New Students - Kindergarten - 12th Grade

Step 1: Prior to beginning the online registration process, parents of incoming students must CALL the school their child is assigned to attend to initiate the enrollment process. Or parents may call the District office (during the summer time) at 636-231-2005.

School building secretaries will provide parents and guardians with an Invite Code for the Lumen Online Registration System, to begin online registration. Please notify the building secretary if you have already received an invite code for another child in previous years. You will use the same invite Code the entire time your children attend the School District of Washington. If you do not remember your invite code, the building secretary can look it up for you.

  • Required documentation: To be submitted to the student's school of attendance on, or prior to, the first day of school.

Enrollment is not official until verified by the district and proof of residency is confirmed. Children may only be registered by a parent or court-appointed legal guardian. According to state law, a child must be five years old before Aug. 1, 2022, to attend kindergarten in August 2022.

Step 2: The School District of Washington utilizes the Lumen Student Information System Parent/Student Portal. This online system enables parents to access attendance information, course schedules, grades and lunch account information for students within our district. Parent/Student Portal is a free component of our student information system.

  • Parent Portal Request Form (Once we have entered your information into our system, you will receive a username and password via email from [email protected] for each student you list on the form. Please allow 3-5 business days for us to process your request.)

Step 3: First Student Transportation – The Transportation Application allows First Student, Inc. to determine bus routes along with pick-up and drop-off times and locations. We ask that all students have a completed Application submitted for current and future planning. The Application should be printed, completed and returned to your student’s school.

Step 4: Student Handbooks contain all the pertinent information about a particular school, along with a copy of the district’s policies and procedures. Please follow the link below to view the handbook for your student’s school. The first page of the handbook should be printed, signed and returned to your student’s school.

Step 5: Free and Reduced School Meals – you may drop off your application at your student’s school or it may be mailed to Washington Food Service, 2160 Highway A, Washington, MO 63090.

Step 6: MO HealthNet - The following information is a request adopted by the General Assembly in 2010 requiring school districts to determine whether or not all children in a family have health insurance. Please print and return to your child’s school.

Step 7: Technology - The District provides take-home devices (Chromebooks) to all students in grades K through twelve. In order to receive a Chromebook, parents and students must review the 1:1 Handbook linked below. You and your student must print and sign the last page of the handbook and either bring them with you to registration (for WHS and WMS) or, if your student is in elementary school, turn the form in to your child’s homeroom teacher. Your child will not be issued a device without this form signed by both the parent and the student. No exceptions will be made.

Step 8: One2One Risk Damage Waiver program –The district offers a damage waiver/device protection plan through AJ Gallagher Risk Management that enables patrons to save a considerable amount of money, should the student’s 1:1 device become damaged or lost. This is an annual fee that is paid through the One2One Risk webpage. Note for new students: You will have to be fully enrolled in our Student Information System, and then your information entered by our staff into the One2One database, so you will not be able to enroll immediately.  Your child’s building secretary will be able to enter your information at the time of your final enrollment meeting.  You will need to know your student's Lumen ID number to enroll.  This is a 6 digit number (no letters) that can be obtained from your child's school office.
