School District of Washington Staff Opening Ceremony
The School District of Washington welcomed staff back for the 2025-26 school year with its annual Opening Ceremony on Wednesday, August 13, at Washington High School.
The morning began under sunny skies at Scanlan Stadium, where Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Kephart and Board of Education President Dan Leslie offered words of inspiration and gratitude to staff members. Following the remarks, attendees visited with vendors and community partners, including WINGS, United Way, and many others who were on hand to show their support.
Adding to the energy of the day, the Washington High School Jaywalkers dance team, the WHS Drumline, and members of the WHS football team gave a spirited welcome, setting the tone for the school year ahead.
The celebration then moved indoors to the CJB Theater, where keynote speaker Weston Kieschnick - an award-winning educator, author, and host of the Teaching Keating podcast - delivered a powerful and motivating address. Kieschnick, recognized for blending proven teaching strategies with innovative approaches, encouraged staff to continue fostering meaningful connections with students.
The event captured the excitement, pride, and dedication that define the SDOW community.
