Washington High School Tennis Has Most Ever Players, Places First at Farmington
The Washington High School girls tennis program is off to another solid start to the season. There are 31 girls in the program this fall, the most ever in the program’s history, including 11 seniors.
There have been several highlights of the season through the first month.
The Lady Jays are coached by Bill Stahlhuth and assisted by Laurie Bryson.
“We remain a competitive team despite losing our top three singles players from 2024,” Stahlhuth said.
“The program continues to build and girls continue to improve on their tennis games,” Bryson added.
Washington’s varsity gold players recently captured first-place honors at the Farmington Singles Tournament for the second straight year.
Additionally, the Lady Jays finished in third place at both the Francis Howell Central Doubles Kickoff Tournament and the Troy Doubles Tennis Tournament.
First-place medalists have been Ava Craven, Kate Hill and Ava Wardwell. Second-place medalists have been Vivien Grant, Ava Stone and Allie Young.
Washington has a record of 3-4 in dual meets heading into action on September 22. Three of those losses went down to a 4-5 final tiebreaker.
