Lady Jays Win Swim Meet Over Borgia
The Washington High School girls swim team had a home meet at the Four Rivers YMCA against Borgia on Friday, January 2.
The Lady Jays won the meet over the Knights, 112-32.
Washington’s lone senior, Dayton Griesheimer, was recognized on senior night.
Brooke Schoonover is the only junior on the roster. Sophomores are Tinsley Cragun, Paula Marquez Diaz, Lacey McMillen, Kayla Munson, Grace Owenby, Rue Souders and Peyton Sullivan. Freshmen on the team are Lana Bridenstine, Tanner Combs and Martha Etter.
Washington’s highlights in the meet against Borgia were:
Schoonover finished first in the 100 freestyle. Combs placed third and Cragun was fifth.
In the 100 backstroke, Owenby placed first and McMillen was third.
Munson finished first in the 100 breaststroke and Bridenstine was third.
Griesheimer placed first and Owenby third in the 200 freestyle.
Schoonover and Combs went first and second in the 200 individual medley.
Munson finished first and Sullivan third in the 50 individual medley.
Marquez and Sullivan placed first and second in the 100 butterfly.
In the 500 freestyle, Griesheimer was first and Etter placed second.
Washington’s medley relay teams and the 400 freestyle relay finished in first and second place.
The Lady Jays are coached by Tracy Moreland and Bob Sander.
