Elementary Students Participate in Battle of the Books at Washington Middle School

The Eighth Annual Battle of the Books took place at Washington Middle School on Thursday, April 30.
Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for grades 4-6 in which teams are encouraged to read all 12 Missouri Mark Twain award nominees and then participate in the battle to see which team knows the most about the books.
All of the questions in the competition began with the words “In which book” and the correct answer always was the title.
There were five rounds consisting of 10 questions in each round.
Students in grades 4-6 from elementary buildings in the School District of Washington participated. A total of 23 teams participated.
The first-place team was The Book Diner from Washington West Elementary (Brooklyn Obermark, Charlee Quinn, James Quinn, Sam Trentmann and Caroline Wallace).
The second-place team was Shelf Surfers from South Point Elementary (Morgan Scheer, Morgan Holt, Brielle Rives, Mitchell Dreisewerd and Georgia Kramme).
The third-place team was Petals and Pages from South Point Elementary (Margot Knight, Jefferson Snider, Emily Maune, Taylor Scheer, and Caroline Risely).
The best decorated table was Shelf Surfers from South Point Elementary.
