Washington Boys, Girls Place Second at Class 4 District 5 Track and Field Meet

Hosting the Class 4 District 5 Track and Field Meet on Saturday, May 16, Washington High School recorded second-place finishes in both the boys and girls team standings. Parkway Central claimed both team titles.
In the boys team standings, Parkway Central placed first with 127 points. Washington finished second with 121 points followed by Rockwood Summit (109), DeSmet (93.5), Borgia (82), Parkway North (58), St. Clair (51), Sullivan (43.5), Pacific (35) and Union (21).
In the girls team standings, Parkway Central placed first with 167 points. Washington finished second with 121 points followed by Union (113), Rockwood Summit (107), Parkway North (78), Pacific (60), Ursuline (42), St. Clair (24) and Sullivan (18).
The top four finishers in each event advanced to the sectional meet on Saturday, May 23, at Waynesville High School.
The MSHSAA Class 4 Championships are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 29 and 30, at Jefferson City High School.
Washington’s district champions were the boys 3,200-meter relay team of Mason Bliss, Reid Obermark, Gable Ohm and Steven Broadbent in a time of 8:12.95, Broadbent in the boys 800-meter run in 1:59.03, Caleb Matchell in the boys pole vault at 3.95 meters (12-11.5), Josie Keiser in the girls 400-meter dash in 1:01.24, and Macy Wieland in the girls 100-meter hurdles in 16.12.
Other boys sectional qualifiers were Ryan Howard in the 200-meter dash, Bliss in the 3,200-meter run, Caleb Moritz and Matchell in the 110-meter hurdles, Moritz in the 300-meter hurdles, the 1,600-meter relay team (Rylen Stegen, Matchell, Obermark and Broadbent), Jackson Parker in the shot put, Miguel Coats in the javelin, and Jack Henderson in the high jump.
Other girls sectional qualifiers were Ava Flottmann in the 100-meter dash, River Johnson in the 400-meter dash, Grace Owenby in the 1,600-meter run, Olivia Mahon in the 3,200-meter run, Skyler Woodle in the 100-meter hurdles, the 400-meter relay team (Bailey Gilliat, Tayte Mullin, Gracey Garner and Alyson Paule), the 800-meter relay team (Gilliat, Mullin, Garner and Paule), the 1,600-meter relay team (Kathryn Figas, Carleigh Hall, Keiser and Johnson), the 3,200-meter relay team (Lena Wulff, Keiser, Figas and Owenby), and Olivia Jensen and Piper Tolle in the pole vault.
