FRCC Administrative Assistant Michelle Rice Named SDOW, WINGS Support Staff Person of Year

Michelle Rice, Administrative Assistant at Four Rivers Career Center, has been named the School District of Washington and WINGS Support Staff Employee of the Year.
WINGS recognizes a support staff person from the School District of Washington each year. The recipient receives a check for $2,000 and a plaque.
“I’m honored to receive the Support Staff of the Year award. It was a complete surprise, and I’m truly grateful that someone thought enough of my hard work to even nominate me,” Rice said. “Thank you to my co-workers at Four Rivers Career Center and thank you to WINGS for choosing me for this recognition. It means so much to be recognized by such an amazing team and organization.”
Rice works in the front office of the Career Center. She helps students and staff with a number of functions and tasks on an everyday basis.
“Michelle is incredibly deserving of being named Support Person of the Year. She is dependable, efficient, and always willing to step in and help wherever needed,” said Four Rivers Career Center Director Philp King. “Michelle consistently looks for ways to make the Career Center better for both staff and students, and her advice and support are valued by everyone around her. We are fortunate to have someone so dedicated and positive as part of our team.”
Support staff candidates must be a non-certified employee of the School District of Washington. Examples include, but are not limited to, paraprofessionals, technology staff, custodians, buildings and grounds, maintenance, administrative assistants, food service, and nurses.
Anyone had the opportunity to submit a nomination for the School District of Washington and WINGS Support Staff Person of the Year.
Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Kephart and a committee reviewed the nominations and submitted a group of finalists to the WINGS Board, who picked the winner.
Rice has been with the School District of Washington for 13 years. She started as a lunch monitor and substitute administrative assistant, then worked as a full-time administrative assistant at Clearview Elementary, and has been with Four Rivers Career Center as administrative assistant for two full school years.
Michelle and her husband, Wayne, have two daughters, Katelyn (21) and Kayla (19).
