Washington High School incoming senior Gable Ohm has been named the Washington Missourian Athlete of the Year. Ohm joins Pacific High School’s McKenna Lay as recipients.

A three-sport athlete, Ohm earned all-state honors in all three seasons during his junior year, competing in cross country, wrestling and track and field.

During the fall season, Ohm earned all-state status by placing 16^th at the MSHSAA Class 4 cross country championships in a time of 16:22 at Gans Creek Recreational Area in Columbia.

During the winter season, Ohm captured a state medal at the MSHSAA Class 3 wrestling championships at Mizzou Arena in Columbia with a third-place finish in the 132-pound weight class, finishing the season with a 49-8 record.

During the spring season, Ohm was a member of the 3,200-meter relay team that earned state honors with a fourth-place finish in 8:04.54 during the MSHSAA Class 4 track and field championships at Jefferson City High School. Joining Ohm on the relay team were Mason Bliss, Reid Obermark and Steven Broadbent.

Ohm is the first male athlete in school history to earn all-state honors in three sports in the same school year. Two females have accomplished it at WHS, Mia Reed and Julia Donnelly.
