Six educators from the School District of Washington were among approximately 130 educators who participated in the mySci Summer Institute on July 21 at Washington University’s Danforth Campus in St. Louis.

Designed and administered by Washington University’s Institute for School Partnership (ISP), mySci is a comprehensive, high-quality, kit-based K-8 science program that emphasizes hands-on learning, exploration, critical thinking and real-world scientific experiences.

Through mySci, educators receive curriculum resources, professional learning opportunities and classroom science kits designed to engage students in meaningful, inquiry-based learning. Each year, the ISP delivers more than 13,000 mySci kits to over 245 schools throughout the St. Louis region.

Representing the School District of Washington at this year’s Summer Institute were Catie Monzyk and Michelle Jacquin from Clearview Elementary; Amber Strickland and Sonya Jones from South Point Elementary; and Skylar Thompson and Rilee Carter from Washington West Elementary.

Their participation provided an opportunity to collaborate with fellow educators from across the region while gaining new ideas, resources and strategies to bring engaging science instruction back to their classrooms.
