The Washington High School girls golf team wrapped up a busy week by competing in the 18-hole Troy Tournament at Woods Fort Golf Course on Thursday, September 24.

The tournament capped a week that included three away matches for the Lady Jays, along with a 199-283 victory over Winfield at Wolf Hollow Golf Club on Wednesday, September 16.

In the win over Winfield, Sophia Fitzgerald earned medalist honors with a 44. Layla LaBeaume shot a 47 and Jen Kemper finished with a 48.

At the Troy Tournament, Fitzgerald again led Washington, firing a 95 for the Lady Jays’ lowest round of the day.

Several Lady Jays also recorded personal-best rounds. LaBeaume shot a 103, Cadence Adelman finished with a 109 and Madelyn Kemper carded a 116. Jen Kemper completed the tournament with a 108.

In a match against Ft. Zumwalt East on Tuesday, September 22, Jen Kemper shot the low round with a 45 over nine holes. Against North Point on Monday, September 21, at Innsbrook, Sophia Fitzgerald carded the low round with a nine-hole score of 46.

The Lady Jays are coached by Ben Hornback and Jessica Fitzgerald and play their home matches at Wolf Hollow Golf Club.

Washington closed out the busy stretch with several strong individual performances and continued improvement throughout the lineup.
