Washington High School Students Selected for All-District Choir

The Washington High School Choir Department had a strong showing at the All-District Choir Auditions on Monday, September 28, at Hillsboro High School.
WHS took 14 students to the auditions, marking the first time students from both Meisters and Concert Choir participated as a full group. Eight students were selected for the All-District Choir, while four juniors and seniors earned scores high enough in their sections to advance to the All-State Choir audition process.
Selected for the All-District Choir were Morgan Straatmann, Morgan Koch, Steven Banderman, Jacob Donahue, Anna Strubberg, Gwen Van Leer, Vic Fischer and Augustin McAfoos.
Donahue, Banderman, Straatmann and Koch are also eligible to audition for the All-State Choir.
The All-District Choir members will now begin preparing new music ahead of two rehearsals in November, where they will work with clinician Maria Ellis. Students eligible for All-State will also prepare an additional piece for their November auditions.
WHS Choir Director Jessie Katz said she was especially proud of the way the students represented Washington High School through both their preparation and professionalism.
The students encouraged one another throughout the audition process and supported classmates who were auditioning for the first time.
The Washington High School Choir Department congratulates all 14 students who participated and the eight students selected for the All-District Choir.
