Washington High School softball player Lacy Monzyk is the Washington Missourian Athlete of the Week, sponsored by First State Community Bank.
Monzyk, a senior shortstop, is a four-year starter, playing in multiple roles during her career with the Lady Jays. She was named to the all-tournament team at the Sullivan Peoples Bank Back to School Tournament, helping Washington claim the tournament championship.
Through the first 11 games of the 2023 season, Monzyk has a batting average of .472 (17 hits in 36 at-bats with eight RBIs, 10 runs scored, an on-base percentage of .525 and a slugging percentage of .722 in helping the Lady Jays to a 9-1-1 record.
