Students submitted an audition via audio recording and were selected based on three screeners for each voice part, and all auditions were screened blind (by audition number only). Approximately 4,000 students from across the country auditioned with approximately 1,200 being selected for the honor choirs.

“This is a huge deal and such an honor to be selected for such a prestigious event,” said Augusta Elementary Music Teacher Jon Logan.

The students will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, February 22-25, to rehearse and perform with world renowned conductor and teacher, Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, and perform music at the highest level.

“This will be a life changing experience for our students,” Logan said. “Speaking from personal experience, as I was part of this same honor choir when I was their age, they will make friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.”

Additionally, one student from Augusta Elementary and two from Marthasville Elementary were selected by audition to participate in the Missouri All-State Children's Choir.

Students selected were Augusta fifth-grade student Josie Bina and Marthasville fourth-grade students Amelia Timpe and Addison Owenby. They will travel to Tan-Tar-A Resort on January 25 to perform with fourth- and fifth-graders from across the state under the direction of Canadian music educator, Kerry Heisler.
